Environmental Litigation and Regulatory Compliance

Overview

Starnes Davis Florie's Environmental Litigation and Regulatory Compliance practice group combines extensive experience with a broad array of skills to assist clients in resolving environmental, health and safety issues. The group stays current on all aspects of environmental litigation and regulation and is highly knowledgeable in toxic tort litigation.

Starnes Davis Florie defends clients in suits brought by property owners across the state alleging trespass, nuisance, and toxic tort claims. Attorneys handling these claims also have a wide range of experience in Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act litigation, actions involving ADEM, EPA, the Justice Department, and other local, state, and federal entities, as well as hazardous waste site issues and waste water treatment facilities. Those complex cases often involve hundreds or even thousands of plaintiffs, and the firm's extensive litigation background, including class action experience, lends itself well to committed, multi-disciplinary solutions across a wide range of local, state and federal environmental issues.

The firm also stands ready to assist clients with regulatory compliance matters, including permits, rulemaking issues, public comment, voluntary clean-up and redevelopment of contaminated property, and energy, natural resources, biotechnology, historic preservation, and endangered species issues.  Such matters often require investigation, development of an evidentiary record, and advocacy similar to litigated matters.
