THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN LAWYERS TO HOLD "NIGHT OF GIVING" BIRMINGHAM AS PART OF NATIONWIDE INITIATIVE
Chicago, October 15, 2009 On October 22, 2009, the National Association of Women Lawyers® (NAWL) will host a Night of Giving in support of My Sister's Closet and the YWCA, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the law office of Starnes & Atchison LLP, 100 Brookwood Place, Fifth Floor, Birmingham, Alabama 35209. The event is the one of three Night of Giving events that will be held during October in different regions of the country, including Atlanta and Philadelphia, as part of NAWL's National Night of Giving month. Each Night of Giving enables women lawyers and other professionals to come together for an evening of philanthropic networking and volunteerism to benefit charitable and community service organizations.
The Night of Giving in Birmingham includes a group volunteer activity to benefit the YWCA's My Sister's Closet, an organization that works to outfit and empower women for entry into the job force by providing them professional clothing and accessories. Participants are asked to bring an in-kind donation of women's professional clothing and accessories. My Sister's Closet also collects formal wear, which is used each spring to provide prom dresses, free of charge, to disadvantaged teenage girls from area high schools. The volunteer activity will be followed by a networking reception for participants and YWCA representatives.
Lisa Gilford, NAWL President, states, "NAWL's Nights of Giving are a wonderful way for women lawyers to get together and give back to causes benefiting women and girls. We are thrilled that Starnes & Atchison LLP and a number of Birmingham based law firms are partnering with NAWL to support My Sister's Closet. We seek to promote philanthropy and professional networking in one worth while event."
YWCA Central Alabama Director of Donor Relations and Communications, Megann Cain, further added, "We are thrilled NAWL and Starnes and Atchison are partnering with the YWCA to help provide professional clothing for homeless women in our community. The clothing will help restore dignity to women who are working tirelessly to get back on their feet. With the generous support of community groups such as NAWL we are able to continue to provide hope and stability to those who need it most."

Starnes and Atchison LLP would like to thank LexisNexis and the law firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. for their assistance with this event.

of what friends, family, or other individuals may say about what a case is worth,
each case must be evaluated on its own facts and circumstances as they apply to
